This program is a fantastic way for young riders to gain confidence and learn the basics of mountain biking in a relaxed, fun setting. Meeting once a week on Saturdays, each 90-minute session kicks off at the Newtown Bicycle Playground, a unique space designed specifically for young bikers to practice essential riding techniques. Whether it’s mastering body positioning, shifting gears, or learning how to brake effectively, this playground provides the perfect environment for young beginners to hone their skills.
After each skill-building session, riders will head out to explore the scenic Fairfield Hills bike path and the inviting trails at Deep Brook Preserve. With a blend of smooth paths and gentle off-road trails, this program is designed to make the transition to trail riding both accessible and exciting. The varied terrain helps beginners and advanced beginners alike grow their confidence on different surfaces, from easy paved sections to rolling meadow trails and light hills. This steady progression will help young riders enjoy the adventure of off-road biking while developing important skills in a safe and controlled way.
